Bully — The No-Excuses Task Master

A productivity app that doesn’t ask for permission. It pushes, it provokes, and it doesn’t let procrastination off the hook. Launched for iPhone (iOS 16+), it has a 5.0★ rating, with users saying things like “This app actually got me to do things that have been on my to-do list for far too long.”

At Appsylvania, we don’t believe in designing just another productivity app. The world already has enough to-do lists and gentle nudges that people ignore.
Bully was born from a bold idea: what if an app could push you, provoke you, and actually make you act?
A task manager with teeth. A digital coach that doesn’t care about your excuses. Our role? To bring that vision to life with clarity, presence, and ethical psychology.

The Challenge
Most productivity apps fail for one reason: people abandon them.
Notifications pile up. Motivation dips. Procrastination wins.

We asked:
How do we make reminders impossible to ignore?
How do we design a personality that motivates without turning users away?
How do we balance tough love with trust?

1. Research & Insights
We studied behavioral psychology and procrastination patterns. We spoke with early users who confessed they didn’t need another soft reminder — they needed accountability.
The insight was clear: tone is UX.

2. Defining the Personality
Bully’s voice became the centerpiece: sharp, unapologetic, witty.
Every push notification had to feel like a wake-up call — not spam, not noise.
We mapped user tolerance levels to make sure the app provoked action, not uninstalls.

3. Mapping the Experience
We built the journey to be simple but striking:
Onboarding: sets expectations (“This app will bully you — are you in?”)
Task Creation: quick, clear, no friction
Reminders: smartly timed, no “Do It Later” escape hatch
Daily Tips: short, bite-sized productivity wisdom, delivered with attitude
Feedback Loop: the app adjusts based on how users respond — making it feel alive

4. Designing the Interface
We crafted a bold, minimal UI. Strong typography. High-contrast visuals. A dark-leaning palette that amplifies the “Bully” brand without losing clarity.
The design system ensured:
Consistency: every interaction feels intentional
Scalability: future features can expand seamlessly
Focus: nothing distracts from the one goal → get it done

The Solution

The result is Bully — Tasks & Productivity, a holistic product where UX, psychology, and attitude converge:
Push notifications that cut through noise
An adaptive feedback system that keeps the app personal
A personality that creates loyalty: people don’t just use Bully, they have a relationship with it

Outcome
The app launched on iOS to a 5.0★ rating.
Users call it “hilarious, savage, and effective” — but most importantly, they say it actually makes them do the tasks they’ve avoided for months.
Bully stands out in the saturated productivity space because it doesn’t try to please everyone. It dares to be itself.
